Bridal Trial Makeup FAQs

February 03, 2013  •  Leave a Comment

So you’ve booked in a bridal trial and are now wondering if there is anything I need to prepare, or what I need to know for the day in order to have a successful and stress-free day.  A bridal trial isn’t stressful; it’s about sitting down and consulting with your makeup artist in order to find what you like to look like for that very big day in the near future.  So below are some frequently asked questions?

Q: What is a Makeup Bridal Trial?

A bridal trial for makeup is an appointment made with a makeup artist where you’ll be talking about what sort of look(s) you would like to wear on you wedding day.  It’s to get an idea of what you will look like on the big day.  When your makeup artist understands your desired look he/she will perform a full makeup application as if it was your wedding day.

A makeup bridal trial is a maximum of 2 hours and within the time you will have time to consult, have a makeup application (full face) and make minor changes to get the look you desire.  However if you feel you would like extra time then you can also book by paying $25 per hour after the 2 hours included in the bridal trial.

Keep in mind the trial is for the bride only and does not include the whole bridal party.  If required and you would like to have a trial for anyone in the bridal party please inform the makeup artist and additional costs will be needed.

Q:  How many people can I bring with me?

Don’t stress yourself by bringing too many guests, therefore I only allow one guest per Bride.  So bring one person you trust to help decide or give feedback.  When you bring too many guests with you to your trial you’ll find it stressful as everyone will have a different opinion.  Don’t forget, the day is about you and your loved one so make sure you are happy with your makeup.

Q: When should I book/schedule for a Makeup Bridal Trial?

It is recommended to book in for a trial 6 to 12 months in advance.  During peak season and weddings in full bloom, you could potentially find it hard to book a makeup artist when you had left it too late.  Don’t be disappointed and book in early in order to find the makeup artist you like.

Q: What should I prepare before my appointment date?

Don’t stress!  Relax and just browse around through magazines or on Google for images with makeup that you like.  Be realistic and make sure the pictures you have chosen are similar to your facial features.  Choosing pictures of makeup you like that is completely different to your facial features will only upset you when your makeup artist is being honest and letting you know why your makeup cannot be done a certain way.  Bringing pictures can help to explain what you’re after and serve as an inspiration to your own makeup look.

Please come to your appointment with no makeup, or at the very least minimal makeup.  Taking time to do a full cleanse of your face in order to remove your makeup will take up valuable time.

Q:  I like the makeup at the trial, what now?

Your makeup trial has come to an end and you like what you see and it’s definitely what you would like on your wedding day, then you can book in for your big day or go home and have a good think.

If booking in that day after your trial, then you would need to carefully read the bridal contract.  Please bring full details of you wedding.  Date, time, location, etc

A deposit will need to be taken in order to secure your booking after you have signed the contract.  Unfortunately it is only cash on the day of the trial otherwise bank transfer is also acceptable and date can be held for up to 10 days.  Within the 10 days while your booking is held please make your deposit as soon as possible.  When the 10 days expires and the deposit is not made this date and time will be released again for other potential customers to book in.

Q: Cancellations, Alterations, etc!

Cancelling your booking means the non-refundable deposit will not be given back.  So please be sure you are able to make your appointment that date and that time.

If you would like to change the date of your appointment, please let me know as soon as possible as sometimes it is hard to alter due to other clients having booked in.  I will give options to other dates and times available, but please do know that it is sometimes hard to fit you in.  So it is always best to find a day that you won’t have any conflict with.  I simply do no give refunds when an alternate date cannot be found that suits your schedule.

Tips for Brides

July 08, 2012  •  Leave a Comment

Many women stress and go through many sleepless nights and worries when planning their wedding. Planning a wedding is definitely no easy task and it takes loads of time and effort. With the months, weeks or days leading up to the big day, it is important to look after yourself and to take good care of your skin and health.

Here today I would like to share a couple of simple tips that could make a big difference to your big day.

It is probably the easiest to set a routine for yourself if you can get into a habit of actually staying healthy and pampering your skin to achieve that healthy glow on your big day.

Here are some tips you could consider from the beginning of your journey until your big day.

  • Cleansing, toning and moisturising daily
  • Deep-cleansing or facial masks once a week
  • Exfoliate and moisturise around once to twice a week
  • Ensure you are drinking enough water to keep your self hydrated and your skin fresh

When closer to date these are some tips that may suit you.

  • Treating yourself to massages, facials, and nail care
  • Arrange for hair and makeup trial, with some ideas of what you would like on your wedding day
  • Fake tans should be done around 3 months before you date of your wedding to ensure enough time to find the right shade you are after
  • Hair colour should also be done around 3 months before you wedding day as this will ensure time to fix any mishaps or bad choices made
  • Consider getting your brows professionally shaped around a months beforehand and then a quick touch up around 2 weeks before the wedding
  • Body hair should be removed about a week before your big day
  • Eyelash extensions should be considered or done around 1 week before
  •

Only one day to go.

  • RELAX
  • Have a manicure and pedicure
  • Treat yourself to a relaxing and soothing massage
  • Go to bed early and get some good rest to be up looking fresh and glowing on your special day

On the morning of you wedding.

  • Cleanse your face and put on some moisturiser, but do not overload it
  • Drink a glass of warm water before you eat and ensure you are getting enough fluid into you to keep yourself hydrated
  • Stretching your limbs and muscles can help with blood circulation and reduce the chance of sore backs and shoulders throughout the day
  • Best would be to stay away for any alcoholic drinks as it can cause redness and uneven skin tone (blotchiness)

For those special brides who are on a budget and can’t afford to pay for treatments at salons all the time, consider doing some DIY that would suit you and your skin’s need.

Hope all the lovely brides have a fantastic and memorable wedding day.
